In
2004 Hurricane Charley caused over $1 Billion worth of damage to homes,
hospitals, schools, power lines and other infrastructure in Cuba. The Cuban
people are very resilient but they can use your help.

Staying
at Cuban Hotels and All Exclusives in Cuba can put a bring strain on your
wallet. The Cuban Hotels, Casa Particulars, and Hostels with links below have
the prices and most have pictures of the rooms and buildings. In Cuba there are
thousands of Casa Particulars and inexpensive Hotels but you have to do
research on the Internet to find the best bargains. I mention some of my
favorite inexpensive Cuban Hotels and Casa Particulars in Santiago de Cuba and
they are cheap compared to Hotels in Canada, Europe and the U.S.A. How much do
you tip a Cuban waiter? I usually tip $1 if the service is good and nothing if
the service is bad. How much do you give a Cuban guide? The Cuban guide will
not usually give you a price for guiding you so I usually give $1 an hour for
younger inexperienced guides that speak little English and I give $2 an hour to
are older more experienced Cuban guides that are knowledgeable about the area
they I am visiting and the Cuban guide has a good grasp of the English
language. Cubans will not turn down a gift of clothing, a meal, a drink or a $5
tip if you are in the mood to help out this victim of circumstances who
normally earns about $200 Canadian a year. In a larger area of Cuba like Havana
it is customary to pay more for the services of a good Cuban guide and you can
expect to pay $25 to $35 CUC ‘Cuban Pesos’ equal to about $30 to $40 Canadian
for a full 8 hour day.
